Business owners, Managers, Supervisors, Employees, Safety practitioners, People who will be working at heights
PRE-REQUISITES:
Learners will have to demonstrate competence in:
• Communication at ABET Level 3 or equivalent
• Mathematical literacy at ABET level 3 or equivalent
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Learners accessing this standard will be people working at height where there is a risk of injury from a fall. They will be involved in performing tasks at height. Learners are able to follow fall arrest principles to perform work at height safely, under supervision of a qualified supervisor. The course will equip learners with the necessary knowledge, skills and understanding required by the Occupational Health and safety act (Act 85 of 1993).
COURSE OUTLINE:
Module 1: Demonstrate the knowledge of fall arrest equipment
Module 2: Inspect, assemble and store fall arrest equipment
Module 3: Selecting suitable anchor points
Module 4: Using fall arrest system with double lanyard
Module 5: Using pre-installed life-lines and reducing the risk during rescue
